Our history
Victoria Practice is the oldest established GP practice in Aldershot - In 1902 Dr Coghlan and Dr Cohen
leased premises in Victoria Road for £50 per year.
In 1973 the practice moved to Aldershot Health Centre in Wellington Avenue which was, at that time,
a modern centre purpose-built for health services, and in which we remained for 35 years. Throughout
this time the building has remained, somewhat run-down in places and filled to capacity, but is still
standing whilst the redevelopment of Aldershot continues to decide its fate.
Over the years several doctors have been partners but have now retired or moved on: Dr Avi Chadha ,
Dr Mukul Mehta, Dr Tony Davis, Dr Rhona Paterson, Dr Gurjit Barn, Dr Katie Law
The current partnership consists of:
We also have had assistant doctors with the practice for periods of time and for many years
had trainee doctors also based with us.
As for the staff,
some of them have been
with us throughout all
these changes. The
atmosphere is such that
staff tend to want to
stay and some work on
into their “retirement”
years!
In August 2008 we finally moved to our long awaited new health centre, The
Aldershot Centre for
Health on Hospital Hill. It has taken us a while to settle in and there have certainly been some
teething problems but we hope to continue running an effective, efficient and friendly practice
for many more years to come.
